Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school program in Oregon is seeking a Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students from early childhood through high school. This position offers the opportunity to work virtually while collaborating closely with local teams in adjacent districts . The ideal candidate is comfortable providing both direct instruction and consultative services across a wide range of student abilities and visual needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct and consultative vision services to students Birth5 through Grade 12
Collaborate with IEP teams, families, and service providers to ensure access to curriculum and learning environments
Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA)
Adapt instructional materials, including braille, large print, and tactile graphics
Support the implementation of assistive technology and accessible educational strategies
Maintain accurate documentation in alignment with district and state requirements
Participate in virtual meetings, evaluations, and team planning sessions
Valid Oregon TVI License or eligibility to obtain
Experience serving students from early intervention through high school preferred
Knowledge of braille, low vision supports, and accessible instructional materials
Familiarity with assistive technology for students with visual impairments
Strong communication, organization, and independent work skills
