Job Title: Facilities - Safety System Engineer
Tax Work Location: Melbourne- B228-2010 GrummanPl (D120), Florida
CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret
WORK SHIFT: 0800-1700 - 9/80 Schedule (Work 9 hour days with every other Friday off)
BILL RATE MAX: $50-55/Hr. W2
CANDIDATES SUBMITTED SHOULD HAVE AVIATION E-2 EXPERIENCE, NOT FACILITIES
Responsibilities for Engineer Systems Safety 2:
Independently analyze and recommend safety criteria to mitigate or eliminate hazards in system design, equipment, and procedures.
Evaluate system designs, support equipment, and facilities to ensure they meet applicable safety specifications and standards.
Develop, review, and approve safety documents, including system safety analyses, reports, and documentation to support customer and certification requirements.
Apply knowledge of safety engineering principles and standards such as MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, and other relevant industry practices.
Work with other engineering disciplines, such as systems, software, and test, to ensure safety-critical functions are verified.
Participate in accident investigations to help identify causes and corrective actions.
Identify technical issues and propose solutions to resolve them, ensuring safety is integrated throughout the development process.
Develop and maintain safety requirements, and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss them.
Basic Qualifications for Engineer Systems Safety 2:
An active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance is a fundamental requirement.
Strong working knowledge of standards like MIL-STD-882 is critical, along with other industry or military standards such as DO-178B/C, DO-254, and ARP-4761.
Experience performing various hazard analyses, such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), is essential.
The ability to develop safety documentation to meet customer and program requirements is a key requirement.
Familiarity with tools for requirements management (like DOORS) or other system safety tools is often preferred.
Preferred Qualifications for Engineer Systems Safety 2:
Experience with military standards like MIL-STD-882E Proficiency in safety analysis techniques (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis) Experience with specific domains like aircraft, missile, or software safety.
A strong knowledge of related standards like ARP-4761 and certifications like CSP/ASP are also preferred.
