Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM OR Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a Machinist I with hands-on experience in manual machining, including manual mills, lathes, and flat surface grinders (e.g., Okamoto). This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and skilled in precision craftsmanship—not CNC programming or general hand grinding.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual tools to close tolerances (±.0002")including:
    • Manual mills
    • Manual lathes
    • Flat surface grinders (Okamoto or similar)
  • Interpret tooling and part drawings to determine machining requirements.
  • Shape and sharpen cutting tools as needed.
  • Devise and fabricate holding fixtures for machining operations.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and surface plates.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure safe, clean work practices.
  • Basic familiarity with CNC equipment or CAD software is a plus, but not required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or vocational school graduate with coursework in shop mathematics.
  • 1–3 years of experience in manual machining preferred (not general hand tool use).
  • Understanding of cutter geometry, feeds, speeds, and metal properties.
  • Proficiency with precision hand tools and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Requirements
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in tight spaces and non-temperature-controlled environments.
  • Must furnish own set of standard hand tools.
  • Ability to lift, stoop, bend, walk, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to follow safety rules and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to check and correct own work for accuracy.
